London, January 1.  This day at noon was performed before
their Majesties and the royal family  the following ode,
written by William Whitehead, Esq. Poet Laureate, and set to
musick by Dr. Boyce, Master of the King's Band of Musicians.
ODE FOR THE NEW YEAR.
January 1, 1771.
  Again returns the circling year, 
  Again the festal day, 
  Which ushers in its bright career, 
  Demands the votive lay:
